"My studies focus on the function of Spastin, which has been identified in a screen for genes important in the fly nervous system."Nina Tang Sherwood is an IGSP Scholar and Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Biology. She received her PhD in Neurobiology from Duke University in 1998 with Dr. Donald Lo, studying the effects of neurotrophins on synaptic transmission in hippocampal neurons. She then moved to the California Institute of Technology to work as a postdoctoral scholar in the Division of Biology with Dr. Kai Zinn. Her work has been supported by the awards from the NIH and the American Cancer Society.
