Affymetrix GeneChip Microarrays

The Microarray Facility provides services for analysis of gene expression using Affymetrix GeneChip microarrays. The Affymetrix system employs high-density DNA arrays generated by synthesis of DNA oligonucleotides onto glass wafers using photolithography. A wide variety of DNA microarrays are available in flexible formats for whole genome or subset gene analysis. The probe production, hybridization, and scanning for various Affymetrix arrays are being offered within the Duke Microarray facility at a reduced cost. Various other Affymetrix services will be contracted with a local company, Expression Analysis Institute. Discounted pricing is available to qualified investigators, click here to see requirements for discounted services. Investigators that wish to use Affymetrix analysis should use our online submission forms to initiate the process.

***Please note that Affymetrix has recently changed their .CEL files to an AGCC format (different from the GCOS format). Many common data analysis software programs (i.e. RMA Express) are not currently compatable with this format. You may download the new Affymetrix data analysis tool, Expression Console. This program will analyze the new AGCC and old GCOS CEL files. File format conversion is also available - please see Affymetrix for more information.
